Making Bath Time Fun
Does your child run for cover every evening at bath time? Are you forever struggling to get your little one to take a bath? Sometimes it takes just a little bit of creativity (and some luck) to make bath time less of a battle and more like fun!The next time you are shopping at a local dollar store, go to the bath aisle and purchase a can of bath foam soap. This is by far the best bath activity available for making bath time fun. Show your child the foam by spraying a bit in the tub. You can write on shower walls with it and even on the water's surface. Bath foam comes in many colors, and makes bath time loads of fun. If your child is small, he or she may not be able to dispense the product alone, so be ready to help the little ones.
Another fun item you can purchase at a dollar store is a "dehydrated" sponge. These are usually at the front, and come in hard circle or square shapes. Simply place the hard form in the bath water and watch it magically turn soft and become a washcloth. There are also fun soaps available that contain plastic objects in the middle of the bar. Make sure the toy is not a choking hazard if your child is small. Some of these items can include frogs, bugs and fish. Your child will have to wash wash wash to get the fun surprise at the end!
Your child may begin to look forward to bath time if he or she can pick out a new waterproof toy. Tell your child it is only for the bath, and make it sound like an exciting prospect. The toy need not be expensive.
You can even select items from your kitchen for play in the bath. Let your child select a wooden spoon or two, some plastic bowls, strainers and plastic cups. Tell your child you would love for him or her to teach you how to pour things from one container to the next.
If your child enjoys the pool during the summer, purchase a new bathing suit and tell your child it is for the bath. Yes, this may be a bit unusual, but it can turn bath time in to "pool time" for any reluctant bath taker. Add a colorful beach ball to the bath to make it even more adventurous.
And if you are REALLY a fun mom, you can purchase a bottle of gentle bubble bath for your kids. When they are ready to hide as the bath water starts, simply load up the bath with the bubble solution. Make the tub simply full of foamy, fun bubbles. Then run to your child excitedly and say, "I accidentally put too much bubble stuff in the bath and you should SEE how huge the bubbles are!" If you are lucky, your toddler will go running - to the bath, not away!
